A New Home for a Family in Uda Pebotuwa: A Heartwarming Journey

We are thrilled to share a recent milestone in our Community Care efforts at Dhamma USA. Thanks to the generous support of our donors and volunteers, we have been able to provide a brand new home to a family of six in Uda Pebotuwa, a remote village in Sri Lanka.

This family, which includes four young children and their parents, had previously lived in extreme poverty. Their living conditions were dire, with a thatched house, a makeshift toilet covered with plastic, and all six family members sharing a single bed. Two of the children were teenage girls, and the conditions inside their home were heart-wrenching.

Today, thanks to your support, this family now enjoys a newly constructed home with a proper kitchen, a functional toilet, and a water tank on the rooftop. This new house represents a significant improvement in their quality of life, offering them comfort and dignity they previously lacked.

To mark this special occasion, we arranged a meaningful blessing ceremony attended by around 20 Buddhist monks. The monks performed a special blessing in the new house, and we hosted a lunch dana for them as a gesture of gratitude and respect. Additionally, we planted useful plants on the land to benefit the family in the future.

The house opening ceremony was held on Bhante Sumitta’s birthday and was attended by approximately 200 people from the local community and beyond. It was a day of joy and celebration, marking a new beginning for a family in need.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to Ven. Buddiyagama Dhammasena Thero, who undertook the construction and overall supervision of this project. His dedication and effort were instrumental in bringing this vision to life.

We hope to continue this transformative work and provide new homes to more families in need. As we celebrate Bhante Sumitta’s birthday each year on March 17, we aim to offer a new house to a deserving family with your help. Your contributions can make a profound difference and bring hope and stability to those in need.

If you would like to support our efforts and help us build more homes for families like this, please donate or contact us for more information. Your generosity will help us make a lasting impact and ensure that every family in need has a place to call home. Thank you for your continued support and commitment to our mission.
